Using Market Data Without Overwhelming Readers

Market stats are one of the best tools you have to position yourself as the local expert—but only if you present them in a way people actually want to read. A postcard packed with charts and percentages will go straight into the recycling bin. The goal is to simplify the numbers so they tell a clear story.

Instead of dumping everything, pick one or two powerful stats. For example: “The average home in Madison sold in just 21 days this summer,” or “Potomac Shores saw prices rise 12% this year.” Add one sentence that explains why that matters: “That means demand is high, and sellers have leverage.”

You can even add a small graph or icon to make the data more visual. The key is balance—enough to spark interest, but not so much that it feels like homework. Remember, you’re not just sharing numbers; you’re interpreting them in a way that’s helpful for homeowners.
